Abcde And The People

It's offish. I would kill to have Adele's voice. I've listened to her song "Chasing Pavements" like 50 times, and it gets better every time. Here are some of my fave voices...

~Adele
~Amy Lee
~The chick from The Bird And The Bee
~Liam Neeson
~Cee Lo Green
~Ewan McGregor
~Cher (Don't hate. She's amazing.)
~Beyonce
~Harry Connick Jr.

I have a weakness for singing along. Abbey and I do so quite frequently. Highly enjoyable :]]

SPEAKING of Abbey, our quartet...oh my. She and Stash and I had scheduled a rehearsal around Alec's conflicts. We did this last week, and it was supposed to be on Wednesday. First, Alec asks us LAST MINUTE to move the rehearsal time back 15 minutes, because of a work thing. So we go to the GBPAC and wait for him to get there...the little tit never shows up. We're pissed.
It wouldn't be as big a deal, except for the fact that he hasn't really been committed to the group for quite a while now. Showing up late to rehearsals, not knowing your part, and making uncalled-for jokes are not really things we appreciate.
Needless to say, we brought it up amongst ourselves, and to Dr. McCandless. He's out. After the clarinet symposium tomorrow, Scott is the new Alec.

Nothing personal, buddy...

I got really bored last night and started posting crap on people's walls. I made my sister a video of myself dancing to "Jump In The Line" by Harry Belafonte...lord. Remember the movie Beetlejuice, and how it was the shit? Besides the fact that Winona Ryder is a BAMF, the soundtrack is also legit, and ends with that song.
After all that, I went to play racquetball with Caryn, which was totally awesome, but made me realize just how out-of-shape I really am. I sweat so much, it was pathetic! Haaaaaa...besides, I could totally feel it this morning when I went to clarinet ensemble. We start playing the Mozart, and my right arm and wrist are all, like...hurting. If it doesn't go away by tomorrow, I'm boned, because I'm playing in Andrew Seigel's masterclass, AND in the clarinet ensemble concert later that night.
And then, LATER that night, I'm hanging out with my new GBF, Isaak!!! He makes me so happy every time I see him, it's ridiculous! Not only does he room with Scott Bosco, the coolest kid around, but he also plays viola, gives great hugs, and wants to watch Skins with me. Happiness = through the roof :)

Know what I'm 100% stoked for? Rooming with Stash next year!!
I love us. Today in woodwind seminar, we looked at the program, "A Contemporary Flute Journey", and her reaction was priceless. As we sat there, she made a few clever "edits" to the artist profile and the song titles, started drawing a new pic for Dr. M, and (I hope) effectively relieved the stress of a bad morning. Stash is Stash either way, but a happy Stash is better than a distraught one! LT <3

Skank Hallway Update:
I was on the toilet the other day, and some bitch came in, used the toilet a couple stalls down from me, flushed, but I didn't hear the sink or the paper towel dispenser.
Correct me if I'm wrong...but from the time we start independently bathrooming, isn't it supposed to be engrained in our heads to WASH OUR DAMN HANDS after we take a 2? SICK. I mean, even if it's just pee, that's nasty, because you go around touching stuff that other people touch. The principle of it makes my guts churn...ever so slightly, but oh do they churn.

Make Believe

Lordy Lord.

First off, Chris Potter was amazing. I was SO stoked to see my sax idol, in the flesh, and he totally didn't disappoint! We had really good seats, but with the way the concert was, it wouldn't have mattered where we sat anyway. Of course, it didn't hurt that we got an up-close look :]]
Saw my old sax/clarinet teacher there, Lynne Hart. I don't know why, but every time I see her now, it's a bit awkward. She never has much to say to me it seems, and I can't imagine why; I left on good terms with her, and had a really good senior year with her as my teacher. So why is it awkward!
I feel like maybe it has something to do with leaving High School and moving on...But I can't be sure.

They really should warn you about bringing a damned can-opener to college. I don't really want to go into detail about what I went through while attempting to cook for myself just now, so...

Things that can NOT open a can of ravioli:
~Pen
~Bedpost
~Brush
~Screwdriver

Things that CAN (but aren't supposed to):
~Scissors
My GOD.
Next time I go to the store late at night, I have to remember to look for the little pull tab on the cans, because mark my words, I won't be doing THAT again. Looks like I friggin killed somebody. Jeeze.

So I'm watching this new show, Skins...skanktastic. After seeing the first episode, I've gathered that the plot is generally centered around the lives of a gang of 16-year-old fools who get into things they shouldn't. Sex, drugs, mischief, drugs, and drama. This whole episode is based on the main character planning a night full of raunchy fun for his friend, who if he doesn't lose his virginity by the time he turns 17, they "Can't be friends anymore". As much as I am put off by the fact that they're doing this at their age, I can't help but laugh at how deliciously scandalous and boldly awful this show is! I think it will end up being my new guilty pleasure...yes? Haaaaaaaa.

You know, it makes me think of my life...I'm gonna be brutally honest. Last weekend, I got really drunk and made out with someone. I was really angry with myself at first. How could I have lost control like that? I wasn't upset by the fact that we made out..that just kinda happened, and we just kinda let it happen. What pissed me off was the fact that I got so drunk that I lost control of what I was doing. I felt terrible the next day...physically awful.
Talking to Stash on Monday morning, I broke down and cried. I decided I didn't want to be that girl...I didn't want to drink until I was sick. I didn't want to let people down, and I didn't want to let myself down. After a lengthy conversation, I promised her I wouldn't drink anymore. And it felt good.

We've all made promises before, not all of which may have been easy to keep. I realize now that this promise is especially important. I may have the occasional drink, but I don't need to be drunk to have fun...and I love that I have friends who will always be here with me to HAVE non-drunk fun. Stacia, you're awesome. And Lucy, if you're reading this..this one's for you, too :)

Peace out.

Ohhhhhh This Life Of Mine.

You know that feeling you get when you know you've done something crazy, even if it was by accident? Yeah...totally had that feeling yesterday morning. I woke up and was like, shit. Did that seriously happen?? Wow...

Don't worry, I haven't had a pregnancy scare, and I haven't done any drugs. But I just...did something I wouldn't have expected myself to do. With someone I wouldn't necessarily have expected to do so with.
The cool thing is, that person and I are totally gonna be ok. I don't think either of us look at it as a bad thing, which is a huge relief :)
Now, to continue living our lives!

I've been listening to this clarinet ensemble piece we're doing, "Monochrome III for nine clarinets" by Peter Schickele...If you get a chance, look it up on iTunes. It's EPIC. I'm in a group with James, Amy, Steph, Katlin, Julie, Emma, Jessy, and STASH. I totes can't wait to start rehearsing our new pieces, because we're also doing the Petite Suite by Debussy, which is the one I'm on contra for.
Our quartet came up with a name. Quartastic.
Loooooooveeeeeee.
AND, we're playing at the clarinet symposium on the 29th!! AGHH I'm just so excited..

Drunk Girl Hallway Update:
The other day I walked down the hallway around the corner from mine, hereafter referred to as the Skank Hallway, and the entire length of it smelled like beer. Also, several times last week, I walked through and wondered, "Gee, is it now the social norm to sit on your couch in nothing but a towel with your door open?" Seriously?? Some people stop at nothing to show the world how annoying they can be...and in this case, it's annoying as hell because I use the door at the end of that hallway every day. Why do they feel it necessary to go traipsing about on our floor with their fake makeup and bumpits, screaming about what they did at the club until 4AM? Something funny though...occasionally, I'll be in the shower late at night, and I'll hear someone enter the bathroom, walk over to the radio, and turn the country station all the way up. You KNOW what that means...hahahahahah. Most of the time, it works. But not always!!!!! I swear, this girl must have had curry or something, because she let this HUGE fart and I almost LOLed. I mean, it was clearly audible over the shower, AND the melancholy whining of Kenny Chesney...nuff said.

Stashspeak

How do you spell relief? W-i-n-d-s-y-m-p-h-o-n-y :)

I made it again. So did Abcde (Abbey). AND, on our concert in February, Stash gets to play with us on a song!! Sweetness.

Classes have started, and they're all pretty awesome. A bunch of cool new people are in our Theory/AT/SS class now, including Stash, Caryn, and Nolan. Needless to say, it's bomb.
I also have Oral Communication (speech) with Eileen, although I regrettably had to part with the lovely Katie Hawks because I went to the wrong class...

I'm seriously nerding out about the clarinet lately. We're playing this piece in clarinet ensemble that's so awesome...and on the other new one we're getting, I'm on contrabass. Eargasm.

The time is winter now, and in contrast, things are anything but cold and frigid. In fact, I feel as if people are growing closer and closer to one another around here. It's great! Everywhere I look, I see empathy and affection on all kinds of different levels. On several occasions, I've noticed people being generally friendly and thoughtful, and it's delightful. Just warms my tender lil' heart, it does :)
Sure, temperature wise, it's colder than a witch's tit outside. But when you've got friends as great as I have, none of that matters!

LORDY LORDY, I watched Teen Mom 2 before I went to bed last night, which I now realize was a mistake. The one girl, Jenelle? What's her problem!!! I mean, wow. I don't understand, why would you go out and party with your poser, douchebag friends, when you have a child at home?? Why would you make your mom suffer like that?? Stupid...there are so many things I could call her right now, but I made a new year's resolution not to be so profane, remember? Pshhhhh.....
The reason it was a mistake to watch it before bed though was because I had a dream that I was in her exact situation. Worst dream ever, definitely not pleasant. However, it must have been pretty early in my sleep because I actually woke up feeling rested and refreshed, even though in the dream I got screamed at and pushed down the stairs. Haaaaaaaaa.

Qwertyuiop

So, I'm back in Cedar Fools. It's weird not having anyone else living in here right now...Come to think of it, it's weird that Alex doesn't live here anymore. I look around the room and think of the memories we had...our little signs on the fridge ("I Am Not A Whore" and "F You"), bumpin' to our favorite ghetto beats, late night discussions of why we're not religious, the time she spilled paperclips all over the floor...ya know, the little things. I'm sure gonna miss having that girl around!
BUT. Caitlin's coming back tomorrow, so I won't be alone much longer, and there won't be stuff all over the floor. Then, the good times ahead can begin :]]]

Auditions for concert ensembles started today, and I had some nice catch-up time with some of my fave people from the clarinet studio. JAMES GUMMERT CUT HIS HAIR and it's short now...I was originally shocked to see it gone, just because I'd never seen it anything but long. I actually like it though, looks good on him! And, he generally has nice hair anyway. It's, how do I put it...healthy looking. Overall, excellent.
Abbey was there, and Steph and Julie. Later, we ended up going to Panera and running into Amy, who had a BOY with her. OOOOOOO.
Megan, my most favoritest Grad Assistant in the world, was also there when I came out of the audition room. I only saw her for a fleeting moment, but made sure to shout my love to her! In case I hadn't mentioned it before, she's also directing the basketball pep band that I'm in this semester, which is gonna be a crapton of fun and I'm waaaaaay stoked for it. Megan also rocks because she's keeping it on the hush hush that I'm missing pep band to go to Chris Potter...girl, you're the bomb-dot-com :)
Also saw Scary Mary, Olivia (who lives down the hall from me and scared my tits off while I was standing at the water fountain last night), Dana, Veronica, Liz, Katlin, Alisa, Emma, and Ranee. Wooooo.
But you know who WASNT there? STACIA. I haven't seen that girl all day, which is super sad. I mean, we had a countdown to this day going back and forth between us on FB!! (Stash, if you're reading this, I'm drowning in my own tears right now. Drowninggggggg...)

...except not really :P
I'll just have to settle for being reunited with you tomorrow! BT + LT = <3!!!
Haaaaaaaa.

Purely because I'm bored and have nothing to do but sit on my arse, here's this. I've put my itunes on shuffle and imma answer these questions. Thanks, Broni!

The next time you stand up in front of a group of people, you'll say:
"Boom Boom Pow" (Black Eyed Peas) - wow, I sound like a huge douche.
Your favorite thing to say when drunk is:
"1983" (Flying Lotus) - It's not 1983, stfu. Drunk bitch.
Your message to the world:
"Let Me Be" (Britney Spears) - No wonder Dr. McCandless called me a goth when she saw my black hair today!
What best describes your personality?
Don't Hide Your Love (Cher) - Haha...I do wear my heart on my sleeve...
Your deepest secret:
Build God, Then We'll Talk (Panic! At The Disco) - Psh, everyone knows how I feel about that. Hahahhhhah.
What hurts right now?
Paranoid (Kanye West) - good thing I'm back on my anxiety pills, so I won't be so paranoid. Foiled!
Your innermost desire:
She Wolf (Shakira) - So true!! I need to let it out so it can breathe.
On your death bed, you'll whisper:
"Time And Time Again" (Missy Elliott) - poetry?
When you wake up in the morning, you mutter:
"You Gotta Be" (Des'ree) - LOVE that song, would probably shit myself laughing if I woke up and said that.
Some good advice for you is:
"Dance, Dance" (Fallout Boy) - No thanks, I'd rather sit and do this survey. Maybe later??
Right now, your feelings are:
Blame It (Jamie Foxx) - NO REGRETS!!
Your life's soundtrack:
Take Me Out (Franz Ferdinand) - Hmmm...
The day you fall in love will be the day that:
"Shut Up, Carly" (Madeline Young and Will Roberts) - Bahahahah...Carly, wherever you are, love you :]]
You scream during sex:
"Teach Me How To Dougie" - PERFECT
What is your motto?
"Piano Concerto No. 5 in E flat" (Ludwig Van Beethoven) - oh yeah. suck it.
What do people assume when they first look at you?
Bad Romance (Lady Gaga) - wow. My computer either hates me or has some sort of kinky obsession with me? Cool.
Are you a good boyfriend/girlfriend?
"Poprocks and Coke" (Green Day) - alriiiiiiight!
What are you thinking about right now?
Yesterday To Tomorrow (Audioslave) - today? It was pretty great, I suppose!
Your best quality:
Feel Good Lost (Broken Social Scene) - Haha. I do seem to be lost a lot of the time...but I feel pretty good.

Peace out, girl scouts.

I'm Not You

Well. Guess who almost peed her pants today?? This sexy chick right here! Wanna know why?

I was taken on an emotional rollercoaster in the 5 seconds it took me to read a message from my dear friend Antonio today.

"IDK if you guys all got the email, but Dave Holland just cancelled the concert due to a family emergency. BUT, do not fear. Chris Potter is now headlining the concert with his group "Underground." It should still be epic."

...I'm like, GTFO. What a thing to happen!!! Chris Potter, my absolute favorite tenor player ever, the man who ignited my love for jazz bass clarinet...not only do I get to hear him live, but now he's bringing his own group, playing his own songs, and by some VERY strange miracle this all happened and I'm sitting front and center at this concert. Wicka whaaaat? Wicka WORDS!!
HOH BOY.
Much love to Nick LeWarne, for being a deartit and subbing for me in pep band at the basketball game that night. It's nice to know we alto whales have eachother's backs :]]
ALSO, kind of on the same tangent, Caitlin got a 3rd-row seat in her car so we can fit everyone in 1 vehicle for the ride to Des Moines. Just thought I'd comment on how awesome that is.

On Christmas Eve, a childhood dream of mine was fulfilled...After months of waiting for it to come out, I was finally able to go see Voyage of the Dawn Treader. For those of you who don't care to know (for whatever reason), that's the new Narnia movie I gabbed about a while back. Let me tell you...It was amazing.

Name: The Chronicles of Narnia - Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Plot: During the war, Lucy and Edmund are living in England with their cousin Eustace, a pompous little turdburglar who hates everything cool and looks like a ferret. One day, they get swallowed by a painting and end up in Narnia. After being rescued by my favorite piece of make-believe mancandy, Caspian, the three are informed of Caspian's quest to bring all of the Narnian world to peace. They go to the Lone Islands, and are captured by slave traders. Suddenly, they watch from the window of a dungeon as some people are just floating there and get eaten by this stanky green mist. After giving their captors a good ol' Narnian ass whooping, they decide to go kill the mist, marking the beginning of the voyage. I won't give anything else away, go see it for yourself.
Favorite Part: There's a scene towards the end, when Eustace is on a little sandy island all by himself, a poor injured little dragon...seemingly out of nowhere, Aslan appears, scratching at the sand. As he does this, glowing claw-marks appear on Eustace as his dragon skin is shredded away...Aslan roars majestically, and he's back to normal, changed for the better. The lighting behind the great lion, combined with the music and special effects...it just seems so surreal...I was in awe. And at the end of the movie, I actually cried. Not even ashamed of it. I sat there with tears rolling down my dumbstruck face.

BTW, my hair's black now. I didn't mean for it to turn out so dark, I thought it would just go to dark brown, but apparently I left it on too long...cuz it's straight up black, fools. It looks alright, just different :P
I went back to WHS today to visit some teachers, and everyone freaked out over it. Priceless!! Haaaaaaa.
